Angola invited to host African Basketball League

Angola has been invited to host the 4th edition of the African Basketball League in Luanda next year.
The invitation was made by the president of the African Basketball League, Amadou Gallo Fall, this Thursday, 24 August, during an audience granted by the Minister of State for Social Affairs, Dalva Ringote Allen, in Luanda.
The African Basketball League chose Angola to host the sporting event because of its demonstrated capacity to hold competitions of this nature, according to the head of the organisation.
The event will help to promote the country in the African and international context, boost local tourism and give young Angolans the opportunity to exchange experiences with athletes from the American Basketball League (NBA).
Amadou Gallo Fall, who is in the country for a two-day working visit, said that a date had already been set, but that he was awaiting confirmation from the Angolan authorities.
Regularly, he explained, the competition is organised between the months of March and May, so he hopes it will be feasible to hold it during this period next year.
"We came to explore the possibility of bringing the games here to Angola. We've already done it in Senegal and it went very well. This is an opportunity to open the games here in Angola, at the Kilamba stadium," he said.
The African Basketball League is a joint initiative between the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and the American Basketball League (NBA), which aims to mobilise, raise awareness and educate young people in Africa through competitions between African basketball clubs.

The Angolan driver Rui Andrade was second in the mythical "24 Hours of Le Mans" race in France, which counts for the endurance world championship, in the LMP2 category held.
His WRT team is now ranked 1st in the world championship. The other two drivers team-mates are Robert Kubica and Louis Deletraz.
The next race will be at the temple of speed: Monza.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans race has been held every year since 1923 on the circuit de la Sarthe in France and is the main race on the endurance calendar, and is considered one of the highlights of motor sport and the biggest event in world motorsport. The Le Mans 24 Hours race is the third race of the year in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
