Mangrove Birds of Angola (watch the video >>)

The city of Lobito in Angola has virtually joined the global map of wetlands, which covers the tropical and subtropical regions of the world, following the presentation and launch of the scientific literary work in the environmental field, entitled "Birds of the Lobito Wetlands - A catalogue to inspire protection and conservation" by Angolan environmentalist Fernanda Renée Samuel, on Tuesday 7 May at the International House of the Environment in Geneva, Switzerland, after three years of field research.

The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Angola to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Margarida Rosa Izata, introduced Engineer Fernanda Renée to those present and pointed out that the ceremony to present and launch the work was of great significance, on the one hand, because of the courage shown by the young Fernanda Renée in portraying the mangroves of Lobito in a book, and on the other hand, because it also serves as a testimony to Angola's commitment to the fight to mitigate the negative effects of climate change. "We need to continue to promote sustainable development in order to achieve tangible results in this global fight to change the effects of climate change."

In her simple speech, the Angolan diplomat took the opportunity to encourage the young Fernanda Renée to write another book, as well as to hope that the next one will be launched in Angola's wetlands for the first time.

Angolan brand competes in Intellectual Property awards in Geneva

The Angolan trademark, Zzhoe Botânica, by Celma Marques and Antónia Baptista, is competing from 10 to 21 April in an international competition for young innovators, organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), based in Geneva, Switzerland.

The awards ceremony will take place on the 26th of this month, in honor of World Intellectual Property Day, under the slogan "Intellectual Property and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Building our common future with innovation and creativity".

More than 5,000 candidates from all over the world are taking part in the competition.

Zzhoe Botânica is a 100 per cent Angolan brand, which is aimed at the local production of children's hair cosmetics, as well as the treatment of skin damaged by low nutrition and the protection of people with albinism.

1st Internet Governance Forum in Angola

Internet governance is essential to ensure that the Internet continues to be a valuable tool for humanity, promoting economic development, freedom of expression and global collaboration.

In terms of format, in addition to the agenda of debate topics that will take place throughout the day, we are also proposing the creation of an award for the best Angolan company that develops its business in the Internet universe.

The creation of an internet governance forum in Angola is justified by the importance of the internet in modern society, with benefits ranging from economic development to the protection of citizens' rights and freedoms.

Public and private organisations are sponsoring this event. Firstly, we have the institutional support of the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technology and Social Communication.
